A state-of-the-art probe calibration facility with six degrees of freedom, is used by Limmat Scientific AG. A free jet nozzle (Ø100 mm) sits in the centre of this calibration facility for aerodynamic probes. The computer-controlled calibration process is fully automated, allowing a time-efficient calibration of both FRAP and conventional pneumatic probes with a rapid turn-around time.
The probes are calibrated in a broad range of Mach numbers (up to 0.8). The components of this facility have been designed to achieve data of an accuracy one order of magnitude higher than the required final accuracy in the target application. Since fast-response probes must cover large angular ranges with a fine resolution, meshes with several hundred points are necessary for each probe at any Mach number level.
Limmat Scientific has access to state of the art experimental turbomachinery facilities for development of both turbine and compressors. Development programs to validate new designs as well as measure component efficiencies can be performed with a high degree of accuracy and customer responsiveness. Limmat Scientific is working on the application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in various sectors of Aerothermal Engineering. The company has the capability of performing steady and unsteady 3D-Navier-Stokes calculations for turbines and compressors using in-house as well as most of the leading commercial CFD software.
